Mossy Forest in Cameron Highlands Tour | Malaysia

When doing my research for Cameron Highlands the Mossy Forest constantly came up as one of the top things to do. The Mossy Forest is a natural environment that grows only at the highest elevations of Cameron Highlands and mountain ranges across Malaysia. At such heights, low-level clouds in the sky driven by winds, blanket the forests with constant mist and moisture – creating an ideal biotope for moss, ferns, lichen and orchids. The more I read about the Mossy Forest the more I knew I needed to visit. There seemed to be a lot of tours which made picking one difficult luckily we found the perfect one.

Mossy Forest Tour in Cameron Highland with EcoCameron

EcoCameron came highly recommend and had many different types of tours. We settled on their classic Mossy Forest tour that included a stop at a tea plantations and factory. Our tour started with our guide picking us up in a chic off white Jeep. We then enjoyed a scenic ride up through the mountains in hills covered in tea and strawberry fields. We stopped at a plantation for some photos and it was so serene and beautiful.

Then up and away we went further into the mountainside. When we arrived in the Mossy Forest it was everything you would hope a mossy forest to be. Our guide lead us around the boardwalk area that was installed to keep the moss from being destroyed. Here our guide told us about the many different types of plants and animals that lived here. Our guide also shared with us how difficult conservation is in the Mossy Forest. He shared how many tourist and locals are destroying the Mossy Forest which was so disheartening.

I really enjoyed the focus on conservation and maintaining the Mossy Forest beautiful for future generations.

We were then able to explore a bit on our own and wandered the boardwalk area a bit. Afterwards we meet back up with our guide and headed to a tea plantation. Our guide taught us about tea and how one tea leaf can produce many different types of tea.  We got to see the process from start to finish.

We even got to taste some local tea and make some new friends.

I loved our tour especially how affordable it was for those on a budget. It was the perfect balance of guided tour while still having time to explore on our own. EcoCameron even did a good job of arranging the cars. Everyone in our car was around our age which is something we appreciated and we even made some new travel friends.

I would highly recommend Mossy Forest Tour in Cameron Highlands with EcoCameron.
