When I finalized my plans for China I know that learning to cook in Shanghai was high on my list. Luckily Cookly made all that possible. I was able to snag a spot with Cook in Shanghai. While the food was very different from the Chinese food we are used to eating in the US it was beyond delicious. I had an amazing time learning to cook in shanghai with Cook in Shanghai.

After we meet up Eriksen he took us on a market tour. He brought us to a traditional wet market.  Eriksen explained that they call it that because of the seafood section and sometimes the floor gets wet. Surprisingly of all the markets we have been to this was the cleanest. Eriksen took us around and showed all the different local ingredients.

After seeing all the local ingredients made me so hungry I couldn’t wait to cook.

Cumin Potatoes

First we made Cumin Potatoes. These were soo yummy and so easy to make that I will definitely be making these when I get home.  The main ingredients are so easy to find no matter where you are. All you need is potatoes, dry chili, Cumin powder, Peppercorn salt powder and salt.

Stir-Fried Noodles

Next we made one of my all time favorite Stir-Fried noodles. These were the best noodles I have had in a while. There were perfect and pretty easy to make. Although easy I must admit that working with the heavy wok was hard and our teachers made it look so easy.

Stir Fried Beef

Last we made stir fried beef. This was the best stir fried beef I have ever had in my life. It had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness. I will definitely be making this dish for my family when I get home.

I absolutely loved my class with Cook in Shanghai. I loved that the class was small as there was only three of us. Our traditionally trained chef would create a sample dish for us to see his technique and sample his dish. After we would try our hand and see how ours stacked up to the masters. It’s especially great for those who like super spicy or less spicy as you can control all this. We also got to keep the cute aprons they got for us.

If you are visiting China learning to cook in Shanghai is a must and Cook in Shanghai is the perfect place to do so.
