Since studying abroad in Florence in 2014, I have been dying for the chance to get back to my beautiful renaissance city. With my 25th birthday coming up, I knew the only place I wanted to celebrate it was in Florence. One of the things on my list for my 25th birthday: Learn how to ride a Vespa. It doesn’t get more Italian than that, right?
Below is our experience Touring Tuscany in a Fiat 500 with 500 Touring Club.
I did my research and stumbled across the “500 Touring Club.” The company had amazing reviews and offered several Vespa and vintage Fiat 500 tours through Tuscany. I selected the Vespa tour with wine tasting thinking we could knock out two bird with one stone. We showed up to our tour ready (and a little nervous) to start riding our Vespas.
We quickly realized riding a Vespa is not as easy as the Italians make it look.
While this had long been on my bucket list we did not feel comfortable venturing on the open roads. Thanks to our AMAZING guides, Ema and Nico, they were able to quickly problem solve. Ema and Nico allowed us to join in on the Fiat 500 tour instead. Jay and I jumped in the car with Ema, and our friend jumped in the car with Nico.
The best part….none of us had to drive and we could take in the beautiful scenery around us.
After our ride through Tuscany, we finished our tour with a wine tasting and a light Tuscan lunch in a beautiful estate. We sampled 3 different types of wine; one white and two reds. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour.
It was everything I could have asked for and the perfect way to celebrate my 25th.
If you are looking to do a Vespa tour or Fiat 500 tour we highly recommend the “500 Touring Club.” Even though we didn’t get to ride on the Vespa on open road we got a very thorough lesson. After talking to a few friends who had done a Vespa tour I was shocked to learn they had only learned the “basics” in a few minutes. Ema gave us a 30-minute lesson just to make sure we understood and felt comfortable on the Vespa. Their Fiat 500 tour was amazing from the cute cars to the view, to the beautiful villa.
Whichever you choose you will be sure to have a once in the lifetime experience.
Hi, I’m Priscilla. I was born and raised in Florida the sunshine state. I came to NYC to pursue my dream of working in fashion. I’ve traveled all my life but it wasn’t until I studied abroad in Florence that I became addicted. Since then I’ve traveled to dozens of far away places from Budapest to Bangkok. A foodie at heart I love trying native cuisines, shopping at international markets and connecting with locals.
