Montauk is that magical place at the end of Long Island where you can truly escape city living. I woke up on Saturday morning and decided that I was going to go to Montauk. The drive itself is very pleasant and Amanda and I stopped a few times to take it all in. We went off on a thirty-minute hike in search of a lake we never found.
Eventually, we made it to Montauk where we picked up some Long Island Rosé and burgers. Once we got to the beach, we grabbed our blankets and headed for the sand. Let me just say it was very cold and windy. Spring in NY is usually warm, but not on this day. After we ate and chilled at the beach we went in search of the perfect sunset destination.
Now I am an excellent sunset chaser. We went off in search of a lake where I presumed the sun would set over. We went down a quiet little road that seemed to go nowhere. When it finally ended there was a hiking trail and a thin strip beach with light red sand. Wow. Long Island sunsets are pretty incredible but this one was by far the prettiest cotton candy clouds I had ever seen.
Montauk is definitely worth a visit and I suggest going in the off season before summer kicks off the making it a lot more crowded. As far as sunsets go, if you do not go to Montauk Lake and take it all in then, well then you are doing something wrong!!🤘🏽
Hi, I’m Jay. A twenty-something-year-old living in New York. There’s not all that much to say about me other than; I love to eat, drink and travel. I’ve lived in some incredible cities from Paris to New York to Florence, and along the way, I’ve crossed off a ton on my bucket list. I hope we inspire you to go out there and see for yourself, just how beautiful life can be.
